Ross Tillbrook
Tour Guide

Home

My name is Ross Tillbrook and as a Blue Badge tourist guide, accredited by the Scottish Tourist Guides Association (STGA), I am qualified not just to guide you around my beautiful home town of Edinburgh but through all of Scotland.  Come with me and explore my country’s history, culture, scenery and wildlife!

Whether you are a small group of individuals, a family, on a business trip or a coach touring party I am happy to design a tour for your specific requirements.  Based in Edinburgh, I am available all year round and you can book me for a half day (up to 4hrs), full day (up to 8hrs) or for extended tours of Scotland.

About Ross

I was born in Leith, the port area of Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital and qualified as a Blue Badge tourist guide for all of Scotland in 2008.  I have a Masters degree in Tourism from the University of Strathclyde, a Bachelors degree in Business Studies from the University of Edinburgh and I also hold a TEFL cerificate.
I left a successful career in the financial services industry to follow my dream of working in the tourism sector.  After roles promoting Scotland as a tourism destination with both Visit Scotland and Vist Britain I started working a a guide on the Guide Friday open top bus tours of Edinburgh before training with Mercat Tours to take historic walking tours through the Old Town.  When darkness fell I led ghost tours beneath the South Bridge helping develop my skills as a character actor and expert storyteller.  I was chosen to represent Scotland at Walt Disney World’s Millennium Celebrations in Florida and have also had the honour of guiding groups around the Scottish Parliament Building.  On the operational side I spent a number of years organising tours to Scotland as the Groups Operations Manager for the biggest inbound tour operator to the country.
As a experienced tourist guide who has worked with both leisure and business groups of all ages and nationalities, I see myself as both an amabassador for my city and my country and  believe that guiding should be fun!  I pride myself on the fact that my clients leave Scotland with happy memories of the time we have spent together and with any luck they may even have have learned something.
Previous clients include: JAC Travel Scotland Ltd, Royal Irish/Royal Scottish Tours, Kuoni Destination Maagement, Institute for Study Abroad and Institute for Applied Language Studies
