We were on the CIE Taste of Scotland and Ireland tour with Ross April 2017 as our guide in Scotland. He made our time in Scotland amazing! We hated leaving him behind to continue the tour. Very knowledgeable and likeable guy.

  2. Alyssa Boudreau Says:

My mother, grandmother, great aunt and I just finished our week long tour of Scotland with Ross through Royal Irish Tours. Scotland itself was amazing, but it was Ross’ incredible knowledge of his country, along with his kindness and sense of humour that made this trip an unforgettable experience. Thank you for everything Ross! I had such a wonderful time thanks to you! I’ve completely fallen in love with Scotland and its history — I will be back!

  3. Leslie Hajdu Says:

I Knew I was going to enjoy my holiday in Scotland. However, Ross’ knowledge and enthusiasm for Scotland enhanced my experience and made it a special vacation. I unreservedly recommend Ross as your tour guide for Scotland.

  4. Gary & Carole Hayes Says:

Recently returned from Scotland, 26 May to 3 June 2017. Ross was our tour guide and made our trip very enjoyable. He is very well educated in history and culture, adding humour throughout. A true gentleman that never seems to run out of energy and always treated everyone with respect. We are planning our second trip for 2018! Highly recommend Ross as a tour guide.

  5. Mark Reinemann Says:

Ross, You were absolutely fabulous! Your knowledge of everything Scotland was fantastic! I really can’t say enough about what our people on the tour said about how wonderful you made their trip to Scotland. We really could not have asked for a better tour guide, you have spoiled us!

  6. Kari Says:

I recently took a 3-hour walking tour of Edinburgh as part of a graduate school trip comprised of 25 MBA students.

We found Ross through a travel agency, and he managed to captivate and entertain twenty-five 26-32 year-olds for the full three hours. Ross was informative and funny, and presented a great mix of history, folklore, and modern fun-facts. He was quick to pick up on the topics that were most interesting to the group (Harry Potter) and adjusted his route and stories to better tailor the content based on the group’s preferences. I can’t recommend Ross highly enough.

    Thanks so much for everything!

  7. Scott Moretti Says:

We just returned from our CIE Scottish Dreams tour with Ross as our tour guide for the 9 day trip and will recommend Ross to any of our friends that may be traveling to Scotland and in need of a guide. Thanks for a great trip Ross!

  8. Ellen McCabe Says:

I booked the 2016 Scottish Dreams guided bus tour which toured this May throughout Scotland. It was my first bus tour and Ross Tillbrook made the experience relaxing, fascinating, and stress-free for me; just all-around enjoyable. In addition to Scotland’s natural beauty, Ross’ storytelling, poems, and historical facts kept me enthralled each and every day. His organizational skills were top-notch and his calm demeanor gelled perfectly with our group of 27. Thanks, Ross, for making sure my experience in Scotland was exceptional!

  9. Meghan Vost Says:

My husband and I just returned from a glorious trip to Scotland. One of the main things we enjoyed so much was Ross Tillbrook and his fantastic tour guide. It was wonderful to learn so much about Scotland, and we loved the mix of history, current events, songs, and fun tidbits about the country itself to go along with the breathtaking scenery. Everything logistically also went very smoothly and we felt cared for every step of the way. Would HIGHLY recommend any tour that Ross is guiding and we are grateful for such a wonderful experience. Thanks Ross!!!

  10. Audrey Williams Says:

My husband and I recently went on a coach tour of Scotland where Ross was the Tour Guide for 13 days beginning in Glasgow and ending in the city of Edinborough. The tour was simply magic and made extra more so by the wealth of knowledge Ross displayed during the towns, cities and magical land and lake areas. For myself I totally enjoyed the many local stories and lots of who killed, beheaded or married who and of course who became King or Queen even for a short period.. To sum it up Ross is an expert for his knowledge and his endless good humor and patience for the occasional members of the group who were occasiiony late. An all round super gentleman. From Audrey and Gary Williams

  11. Suzanne Perlee Says:

Hello Ross – I tried this yesterday – but I do not see it here – so I shall try it again! I wanted to say how wonderful the trip was with you! You and Colin were the BEST team – it’s SO HARD TO BELIEVE that you two never worked together before! I just wanted to tell you that this is the first overseas trip that my whole family has taken since my accident in 2004 and it was INCREDIBLY PECIAL!!!!
I will never forget this trip or you :)

  12. Suzanne Perlee Says:

My family and I just did a two week trip throughout Scotland with Ross as our tour guide. He was SPECTACULAR AND SO FRIENDLY!!! It was an amazing tour and I would love to do another one with Ross in charge :)

  13. Laryssa Nesbit Says:

My mother and I just finished the taste of Scotland and Ireland tour with CIE. Ross came along for our tour of Scotland and I loved listening to his stories and learning about the history of Scotland. Ross was a wonderful tour guide, and he better get his hiking boots ready. I will be calling you to go hiking through the highlands, as our tour guide, in the near future. Thanks for everything!

P.S. I asked you to take a pic with me and your lovely kilt.

  14. Elaine MacDonald Says:

My husband & I traveled to Scotland with Royal Scottish Tours in September, 2014. The tour had been on our “bucket list” for some time and with Ross Tillbrook as our Tour Guide, we could not have had a better experience! Ross’ deep knowledge and love for his country is admirable. We left with many happy memories and look forward to future visits to our “Old Home” in Ardersier. Also: Thank You Ross for our photo in Glencoe and singing “The Massacre of Glencoe” for us!

  15. Lorna Turner Says:

My husband and I travelled to Scotland with Royal Scottish Tours (Canadian tour company) in September 2014 during the Scottish referendum on independence. Ross was our tour guide for the 8-day “Scottish Wonder” tour that took us from Glasgow, up the Great Glen past Loch Lomond and Loch Ness to Inverness, then down through Perthshire to St. Andrews and ending in Edinburgh. Ross is the perfect guide – he knows all the history, can explain the Scottish customs, geology, geography and politics, and he can SING! He was with us every step of the way, ensuring that we were comfortable and well looked after. Kudos to Royal Scottish and JAC Travel for hiring Ross, and a huge thank you to Ross himself for making our trip to Scotland so enjoyable.

  16. Sue Wormington Says:

My sister, mother and I travelled to Scotland a little while ago, and we had the absolutely great fortune to have Ross Tillbrook as our tour guide (along with Bob, our bus driver). We couldn’t have been more thrilled. Ross was exceptional, on many levels. He has a deep and profound knowledge of Scotland and the many places we visited – Glasgow, Loch Ness, Inverness, Culloden, the Scottish Highlands, Pitlochrey, St. Andrews, Edinburgh, and more. Ross also has a passion and strong love for his country – he made the many historic spots come to life with his stories – not just about the physical or architectural aspects of Scotland, but about the people – their struggles and battles, their pride, their loyalties, their warmth, and their ambitions. Ross was wonderful with the people in our tour group, taking the time to answer questions and then add a little more, and helping in whatever way he could to ensure that people would leave Scotland wanting to go back again. One of these examples was when my sister unfortunately lost her passport. Without Ross to help her set things in motion to obtain a new one – including going with her to the Glasgow police station to report it missing, providing contacts, etc., our experience would not have been nearly as pleasurable. I would highly recommend Ross as a tour guide to anyone going to Scotland. You might think that you can do the research and tour about on your own, but you’d be missing the feel of Scotland, its stories and lore. You’d also miss out on what it means to be Scottish – Ross personifies this. (Ross: Again, thank you so much!!)

  17. Barbara Poyneer Says:

Ross, Thank you for a wonderful experience of Scotland. Your depth of knowledge, excellent delivery, organizational skills and good nature made it a special trip – despite the incessant chill wind we experienced. And thanks for enlivening the long bus trips with stories, poetry and song.

  18. Pat Hazen Says:

Ross you are truly amazing. My group used your services for a half day tour of Edinburgh on August 8, 2013. Everyone was amazed at your expert knowledge, stories and detailed descriptions of events and sites. We truly enjoyed having you as our guide and will look forward to working with you again in the future.

  21. Marianne Barclay Says:

I just returned from an 8 day coach tour of Scotland and can’t stop thinking about the amazing scenery! The Highlands are breathtaking and the historical sites around the country just awesome.
Ross was our tour guide. A terrific ambassador for his country, Ross made the trip very enjoyable and memorable by sharing many stories, songs and historical facts. Ross is very personable, knowledgeable and yes, he sings too and has quite a nice voice!
Ross, you truly made this trip for me!
Thanks so much! Hoping to be back next year with my daughters.

  22. Firne MacKenzie Says:

It was an absolute pleasure having Ross as our guide in Scotland. He is a great story teller and singer! The tour was perfectly organized and we learned so much. He provides you with all the relevant information at every stop on the journey. I would wholeheartedly recommend Ross to anyone who wants an unforgettable tour of Scotland.

  23. Jan Rutherford Says:

My husband and I travelled to Scotland this year for the first time. We spent 10 wonderful days travelling the country side with our guide Ross and his side kick Bob (bus driver). The two of them made the trip. It was a blast. We learned more from these two fine men in a short period of time than we would have just sitting in a library somewhere. Everything came to life with Ross’s narration. It was a trip of a lifetime. One we not will soon forget and will definately be recommending to any and all travellers looking for somewhere interesting to go.
Thanks again Ross. You did a fabulous job…

  24. Nieves Says:

    (Spanish group, march 2012)

  25. Sayee Ganesan Says:

My brother and I roamed around Scotland along with a set of tourists (via StarTours), guided by Ross. We enjoyed ourselves to a great extent… The breathtaking views of Scotland had been a treat for the eye; the fine climate, a wonderful feel; while Ross’s narration all along served as a feast to the ear, heart and brain… We thoroughly enjoyed listening to Scottish history, the folklore, legends and some ghost tales – and most importantly the LockNess Monster… Thanks a lot Ross and wishing you success all along… Would like to spend more time in Scotland and would love to know more about the great country from you… [:)] Good Luck…!!!

  26. Debby Thiele Says:

Ross was fascinating. The stories and sites are astounding. The history made everything come to life. I wish we had had more time and that I had written more things down.
    Great time!

Ross was my tour guide in Scotland in late August 2010. I have had the good fortune to travel to many countries and have experienced these countries with many different tour guides……none can compare to Ross Tillbrook!!! Ross was an amazing guide and a wonderful person to travel with. His knowledge and love of Scotland is incredible. His songs and stories were captivating. I learned so much of the wonderful history of Scotland from Ross that books could never offer. Thank you Ross for being you and for taking such good care of all the people you guide. I am proud to say that Ross is not just my tour guide, but is now a friend!

Glasgow to Edinburgh bus tour early August 2010.
Ross is everything a tour-guide should be.
His mixture of history, folklore, music, and poetry
made this trip something special. Others have commented
‘it was like travelling with family’, and so it was with us.
    Cheers Ross

Do you book that far ahead?

  30. L. Morphy Says:

This past summer we took a tour of Scotland and Ross was our guide. He exceeded my expectations on what a tour guide should be. It wasn’t just that he was knowledgeable, friendly and courteous to all (as would be expected) but it was the way that he did it. He was happy to answer all of our questions and he entertained and educated us through songs and stories of the places that we visited – some true and “as it is said”… some ‘not so true’ with humour, respect and a deep knowledge of Scottish history. I would recommend Ross to anyone taking a tour in Scotland. Thanks Ross!

  31. Andrea Baatz Says:

We traveled to Scotland in August 2010 and were lucky enough to have Ross as our tour guide! He did an incredible job of not only showing us around, but also giving us a wonderful history lesson, telling us some amazing stories, and even singing the odd traditional Scottish song. I don’t think our trip would have been half as good were it not for Ross. I would highly recommend him to anyone planning a trip to Scotland!! You will love it!

  32. Jocelyne Groulx Says:

I was in Scotland in August in 2010 with Ross as our tour guide: wonderful trip with a person who took care of everyone in the group, a nice storyteller and a very good ambassador for his beautiful country. Thank you again Ross!

  33. Alexandra and Kristina Terpoy Says:

When the two of us planned our trip we decided that going on a guided tour would be the best way to discover beautiful Scotland. When we met Ross, we knew we had made the right decision. By combining traditional folklore through song, poem, and storytelling, Ross added an element of mysticism that complemented his historical knowledge of sites and cities, which added greatly to our experiences. His passion for Scotland together with his enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge with us made our visit memorable and fun. We highly recommend Ross and anticipate our return to Scotland!

When we arrived we met you as our guide, and we left knowing we had made a friend. Thank you Ross!

  34. Nancy Behme Says:

We just returned from an 8 day tour of Scotland with Ross as our guide. He made it a wonderful experience. He uses humor, folklore, and song to make the factual/historical information come to life. You can really appreciate the best of Scottish culture as well as the glorious vistas and architecture. I was particularly grateful for his personal attention to my 11 year old son, and he never steered us wrong in restaurant choices. I highly recommend him for any traveler.

I was on a group tour guided by Ross in June 2009. He really made Scotland come alive for me! His knowledge of Scotland’s history and his stories really made my trip. We had a fabulous group of people and it was like travelling with family. If you want to see and learn about Scotland, Ross is the man for the job! Thanks Ross for a wonderful experience!

  39. Ellen & Rob Thomas Says:

Ross is truly a son of Scotland. His enthusiastic love of his mother country is contagious. His people skills are top notch and you leave Scotland feeling like your leaving a piece of yourself behind. He seemed to be everywhere for everyone. A very down to earth fellow who even shared a ballad with us about the MacDonald Clan. All those songs we heard growing up suddenly came to life because of Ross’ stories.
The breathtaking raw beauty of the Highlands in particular will forever be etched in my mind. And the flowering bushes everywhere! Far more prolific than our lilacs in the spring here in Canada. Will have to go back some day to see what it’s like when the heather is in bloom.

    Thanks so much Ross.

  40. Sylvie Laliberté Says:

That’s right – Ross is an amazing guide! We had fun with him. He is an enthusiastic guide and knows a lot about Scotland! He also had the chance to teach us the Gay Gordons dance! Thanks Ross! Only good memories!
